Borrego Valley Hawkwatch 2003-2010

The total for all species in 2010 was 4,402. The number of Turkey Vultures counted (1,272) was the second highest in 8 years. Swainson's Hawks accounted for the majority of raptors (3,105). This is the third highest number in 8 years for SW's.

Most of the Swainson's Hawks roosted near the flower fields on Henderson Canyon Rd. This location provided an opportunity to share information about this raptor with the public on a daily basis.

Our counting season began February 3 and ended April 25.
